When Nothing Is Sure, Everything Is Possible

FLYING RUBY EVENTS IS COMMITTING TO SUPPORTING FELLOW SMALL BUSINESSES FOR THE MONTH OF AUGUST. ARE YOU WITH US?
“Teamwork makes the dream work” might be an overused, somewhat clichéd phrase (we can thank John C. Maxwell who wrote a book about it back in 2002), but it’s part of Flying Ruby Events’ DNA. Whether we’re organising intimate dinners or huge gala events, the only way we succeed is by pulling together and working as a team. We do this when things are going well, but especially when things aren’t going according to plan.
And if there was ever a time when things weren’t ‘going to plan’, it’s right now. Not just for us as a company, or the events industry in general, but for the country as a whole. However, instead of us all pulling together, we seem to be falling apart. Australia has become divided with State vs State and suburb vs suburb blame games – it’s toxic, destructive and feels completely un-Australian.
So, what do we do? We might want to look to our neighbours across the ditch, suggests Flying Ruby Events’ Founder and Managing Director, Kelly Lewis. “Jacinda Ardern had one message through New Zealand’s battle with COVID – ‘we are a TEAM of five million’. That language brings people together and makes them feel supported,” says Kelly.
“Come back to our shores, though, and it’s clear we have lost our way. Yes, we’re scared, but so were New Zealand, and they got through it by working together. We can all play a part moving forward and try to turn this around together.”
With this in mind, Flying Ruby Events has committed to 30 days of shout-outs, offers, freebies and good times for the month of August. We want to celebrate (not commiserate) with local businesses, join forces, show support, and be stronger together.
So, who can you help today in your community? Is your local restaurant doing it tough trying to stay afloat? Can you buy some flowers every week to support your favourite florist who has lost a lot of income from the lack of weddings happening? Can you sign up to your local gym that’s running virtual classes? If we focus on random (and maybe not-so-random) acts of kindness during the month of August, we will get through this together as a team.
Make sure you follow @flyingrubyevents on Instagram and Facebook. Every day at 11am, for the entire month of August, we’ll be delivering the kind of news everyone wants to hear. No offence Gladys, you’re doing a great job.
